Greetings, dear Masters and Apprentices, Sith and Jedi alike! I'm not new to the Force, as i've been practicing meditation and studying the ancient Force-like traditions for about 5 years now, however, only now has it dawned upon me that I should learn from the real life Force-sensitives. Frankly this lot of info confuses me, and I don't know whether which path should I choose. I agree with the Sith code, the idea of power through passion, but in the meantime i also like to do good to others. However, the Jedi way might not come naturally to me, it might need some practice till i could put it to use. I presume there's only one Force, and the Light and Dark sides only differ in their philosophy, it's the will of the Force user which determines that the energy is used for good or evil. I've read the teachings of Darth Silus, and he said the dark side had nothing to do with evil, evil is the wasteful way of living. I agree with this wiewpoint. So what do you suggest, which side should I call upon? What is your opinion about the force sides? I await your kind answers. Sincerely: Langur

First of all, welcome to the forum. As Kyle Katarn said - "Your power is not necessarily good or evil - it's how you use it."And if I learned anything for my time of training and studying - evil can't bring good. You see, one of my "friends" is evil. And I mean - evil. He's selfish, self-centered, cruel, compassionless...he would let a man bleed to death just to save a bandage. He has been dabbling in magick and has consorted with me about it.he told me, he didn't feel like going to a soccer match, which he agreed to come to, so he cast a spell to make others forget about him and go on with the match. And guess what - they got especially angry at him for not showing up. My opinion on the light-dark situation: One can't exist without the other. We are all called upon to succumb to darkness or rise into the light at least once in our lives, and without one we wouldn't recognize the other. The only reason I am not in the "Shadow" member group is because I like my Darth name Especially when it's colored in red ;D My recommendation is that you do some serious introspection, see what kind of a person you are, see what you are trying to gain from your training and then decide. Also keep in mind that you don't have to decide to walk one path - you can always learn about both.Balance is the way of nature

So are you saying basically that the Sith path is the balance between light and dark, or is it just your own private opinion? Also, how come you befriended a person so evil? I thought that being such an extremist disqualifies one form having normal human relationships.

No, those who follow the balanced path are called "Shadows"(Kole Fisto's posts in the Shadow forum).I am just saying that I like calling myself a Sith even though I seem to belong to the Shadows. Notice I wrote "friend" with quotes.I didn't really befriend him, what I tried to do is open his eyes - that evil can't bring good. And I think I am being somewhat successful.

Langur Hello and welcome. First of all the most important thing you should know is that no one but you can choose your path. Each of us can provide guidance in order to help you make the choice. I am a Sith because I believe in Balance of both light and dark sides. All things run in balance in order to function properly. To lean all nicey nicey does not work in the real world. You will be just chewed up and spit out. To be all evil, mean and selfish grasping for power also works against you. This leads to extinction. I do not believe to be a Sith you have to be all dark because this is not seeing the Force "From a larger view" as expressed by Palpatine. There are times when as a Sith you can be kind and helpful to someone. There are times as a Sith that it is proper to get Revenge. You have to weigh each situation for your self as it comes to you.
All of nature lives in balance. Balance is how things work. Throw anything out of balance and you have broken it. I hope this helps you to think.
Look around the board and ask any questions that you wish to know and add your knowledge to the board as well. Everyone's knowledge and ideas are welcome even if we disagree just be polite in debating.

@mrs. Vader: What you say makes sense. The philosophy of the real life Siths appeal to me. So how do I go about becoming a Sith myself?

@mrs. Vader: What you say makes sense. The philosophy of the real life Siths appeal to me. So how do I go about becoming a Sith myself? The best way to start is think of a Sith character that best symbolizes the way you feel and act. Which character do you have an affinity towards. This will help you to pick an avatar and give you someone to identify with. It also helps you to pick your power name much like when you wish to know which your animal totem is. You might want to relax and calmly pick this person. It should flow easy and not be forced. For example I picked Mrs. Darth Vader because I related best to Anakin and his turning to the dark side. I also wanted that balance that Palpatine offered. Mrs. is obvious I am a female so I picked the Female partner to Vader. Ok that was the fun easy part. The next is more hard because you have to think about your life view. What is your politics for example? what is your religion or lack there of? You will want to read books that will help you along your path. Which kind of Sith do you want to be? If a Balanced Sith than read books that balance you. I get too emotional like Anakin and can easily become the hot fires of Mustafar so I read Carl Sagan which cools my jets. It causes me to act and think logical. If you are too cool of a person and lean too "Spock" like then you would want to read books that grab your emotions to bring some warmth to your cold logic to get balance. This gives you an idea of how to think things out. A good short easy book for both Jedi or Sith is a little slightly larger than pocket size book called "Intuition @ Work & At Home And At Play by James Wanless. It is only 132 pages long but a small book so it is short and sweet but it gives the very basics on how to choose the right things for you based on your gut feelings. It helps you to sit back and tell the difference between a good choice and a bad choice and trains you how to avoid the bad choices. Wanless is very good at empowering the individual. www.jameswanless.info/index.htmlDo not let the boring site home page fool you this is a good little book. The next link is to the products section so you can order this book. www.jameswanless.info/products.htmlThe description is not as good as the book was. It actually teaches you how to get in touch with the inner you so you can make good decisions. This will help you choose your life path as well as any business decision. It works on the principle that you relax and when you are totally relaxed and comfortable you first remember the worst thing that happened in your life and the decision you made to do it. you feel that feeling. And then you remember that feeling. Then you relax again and clear your mind a moment. Now you remember the time that you made the right decision and how it felt and the results and how that felt. You remember how that felt. Then the next time you have a question on a decision then you relax and see what that feels like. If your question on a decision matches the god feeling then go for it! if it matches the time you made the really bad decision than do not do it because it means it is not for you. I tried to give you a sample what is in the book by Wanless. This book is worth purchasing. He gives little exercises to help you learn how to do this for your self. I hope that I at least gave you a kick start. I hope this helps you to start.

I've meditated on the subject, and I think the Sith Lords of the old times are the closest to my heart. I would say Tulak Hord but also the first king of the Sith race, Adas, who was a mighty ruler as well as a wielder of powerful sith magicks. I'm pretty balanced, never an extremist by nature, although I can't seem to keep to the middle way entirely, there's usually one side which is stronger in me. In this case, passion is stronger in me than calmness, in a ratio of about 60-40. Politics? Well, I used to be a left-wing sympathiser, but now I don't care, I suppose a perfected being should rule the galaxy . As for power name, how does Darth Agur sound? [this just came to my mind , maybe by will of the Force, but google sez it's meaningful: AgurMeaning: gatherer; the collector; gathered (i.e. received among the sages).]

Well if Darth Agur is the one you feel most comfortable than it should be Darth Agur. Sounds like you are off to a good start.

Darth agur I think you have to ask Ahwah to change your settings to Sith because when I checked my profile it did not give that choice so an administrator has to do that. I do not have that status. So PM Ahwah or Admins. As to name change you just click on your name in green(langur). That should take you to your profile. Then click modify profile. You will then see all the things that you can change. Just put Darth Agur to replace langur. I hope that helps. I am not good with computers so if it is too tricky you will have to ask Ahwah.
