Kindness and Compassion to my knowledge are Jedi traits. When one meets a Jedi in real life these traits should be self evident. The old"By your fruits you shall know them" thing. Of course this is a tough cruel world so my question to the Jedi is; How do you be kind and compassionate in such a cruel world? Today it is "Don't let a good deed go unpunished". So how can one be kind and get away with it with out getting punished for your kindness?
I just thought I would ask a few questions for the Jedi to answer. Who knows maybe someone in the Jedi community might have figured away to actually do good in such a lousy world. Good luck guys because I know it is tough to be and do good works in today's world whether you are religious or not the earth in or out of the church is very harsh.

You do bring up some good points, there is no doubt about that. On the other hand, I had a few thoughts come instantly to mind after I read your post. One is settling conflicts through conversation. Not that I have a degree in therapy, but I can honestly say that I have settled a lot more conflicts with words that with clinched fists and combat. Another is to simply live and let live. Let people have their own beliefs. Only in extreme cases do other peoples beliefs interfere with your own. They say beauty is in the eye of the beholder, maybe cruelty is too. Quick example: if you're driving on the highway and there is someone on your tail, flashing their high beams at you to get out their way, maybe they're not being cruel and selfish. Maybe his wife is having a baby, maybe his father was just rushed to the hospital, or maybe his good friend was just in a serious car accident and he's trying to get there as fast as he can. Point is, not everyone is cruel and selfish. Sure, there are some out there, it's a big world we live in. The cruel and selfish are out there, but it's better to set the example by not being like those people and to be giving and unselfish.

dcrobinson Thank you for responding. That is basically good advice. I can see where there might be a reason to speed by seeming like selfishness but an emergency could be true. Of course in my life I have mostly experienced the cruel and selfish so I do take into account my direct experiences. But your advice has validity too.
